Funky hip-hop band Spacifix have rapped their way into the support slot on Dirrty Girl pop star Christina Aguilera's sellout world tour. The nine-piece group will open at both of the American diva's dates at Auckland's Vector Arena. The invite comes hot on the heels of the band scooping three awards, including a Tui for best album at the Pacific Music Awards. "We're really excited about it," frontman Tau Manukia told Sunday News. "I saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Vector and I was thinking 'Imagine opening for one of these guys and having a concert here' - so it's all happening." Aguilera's management chose the west Auckland band, who supported UB40 on their last tour, after being impressed by their sound and following. The deal was clinched last week and the band are rehearsing ahead of the August 2 and 3 dates. "With our band a lot of the stuff we do is improvised but we can't really do that on this kind of stage," Tau said. "So what we'll do is kind of organised spontaneity - so we know where we're going with it rather than being free-minded. He added: "What we do is quite universal but we'll find out on the night if Christina's fans like us. "We'll just have to make sure we don't upstage her on the night!" As well as preparing for the gigs, the band are about to start shooting a video for their new single Old School, due out in August. They're also appearing on TV2 on Saturday mornings in a re-run of their popular reality series, Henderson To Hollywood.

DOCTORS have ordered pregnant CHRISTINA AGUILERA to cancel world tour dates after she collapsed backstage. She suffered breathing difficulties at her Aussie gig in Melbourne on Friday. Despite the health scare the singer battled on to claim rave reviews. But she was forced to skip songs and ditch her encore as doctors dashed to treat her. Christina was kept under observation and told to cancel her two remaining Melbourne dates and get total bed rest. I’m not surprised that Christina’s Back To Basics tour has finally taken its toll on her. Her amazing vocal and dance performances are punishing at the best of times. But now she is four months pregnant the stress on her body must have intensified. Her management team are waiting to confirm Christina is having her first baby with husband JORDAN BRATMAN in a mega-bucks magazine deal. The official line last night was that the star was suffering from flu. She said: “I want to personally apologise to all of my fans. “I am truly disappointed that I won’t be able to share my show with you all.” One worried concert-goer said: “She said she wasn’t feeling great and it looked like she was going to be sick on stage.” The singer is due to fly to New Zealand tomorrow to finish the last two dates of the tour. Pals are worried the Beautiful singer has been overdoing it. A source said: “The wardrobe department have been letting out her costumes to accommodate her growing tummy. “We have been told to keep it hush hush. She is a perfectionist and hates letting people down. But we’re hoping she will cancel the last two dates and return to LA to put her feet up.” I know you’re a Fighter Christina but listen to Mother Nature and give yourself a break.

Christina Aguilera gets on with show Posted by Greg on 27 Jul 2007 Christina Aguilera's curves have long been the subject of attention. However, it's her suspiciously curvy stomach that was the focal point as she shook Rod Laver Arena last night. Aguilera's either been spending a lot of time in backstage catering or the rumours are true – she'll prepare for the birth of her first child once her Back to Basics world tour ends in New Zealand next week. Aguilera has brought the jazz-meets-R&B flavour of Back to Basics to life on stage. A horn section added fire to the storming Ain't No Other Man and Slow Down Baby. Early hit Come on Over Baby is given a jazz makeover. Bravely, she doesn't even perform her breakthrough hit Genie in a Bottle live any more. Indeed, Aguilera takes more risks than most pop performers – channelling the Andrew Sisters and Ella Fitzgerald rather than the usual influences. She's also got the kind of voice most pop performers only dream of. If anything there's a too much vocal acrobatics. Aguilera may have lost the risque attire from her Dirrty video, but she hasn't toned down completely. A few dance moves would have made parents blush, as well as a racy video (shown during one of her umpteen costume changes) shot in a bath. While ballad Hurt is a jaw-dropper, the double-whammy finale of the anthemic Beautiful and intense Fighter showcases the extremes Aguilera pulls off so amazingly. Aguilera performs at Rod Laver Arena tonight and on Monday

Aguilera postpones Melbourne concert Posted by Nick on 28 Jul 2007 Raunchy rock star Christina Aguilera's Melbourne concert is postponed again - with the singer in a fever. The concert was originally rescheduled for tomorrow after an illness forced her out of last night's show. Doctors have advised Aguilera to withdraw from her rescheduled show after failing to recover from an illness. The singer is believed to be running a fever and was advised to rest. “Christina's health is yet to stabilise to a level that will allow her to perform,” the Frontier Touring Company said. An announcement would be made within 48 hours. Some members of her touring party have also been hit by a mystery bug over the past few days as the star's Back To Basics tour draws to the end of an extensive world tour. Aguilera and her company are among many performers hit by illness in recent days. People unable to attend the rescheduled concerts are entitled to a refund, redeemable from the point of purchase.

Christina Aguilera's Abusive Father Comments On Pregnancy Posted by Nick on 10 Jul 2007 Christina Aguilera's estranged father Fausto Aguilera has decided to comment on Christina's alleged pregnancy, telling Life & Style magazine, "I'm so excited. I want Christina to achieve all her goals. I wish her all the happiness in the world." Some publications are saying he's "confirming" her pregnancy, but the quote sounds more like they called him and told him the news, and he responded. For those who know Aguilera's story well, you'll know that the five-time Grammy winning diva barely has a relationship with her father, as her mother left him when she was a young girl because of physical abuse in the home. The abuse and the effect it's had on Christina is well-documented in her music ? in songs like I'm OK (video below), Oh Mother, and even The Right Man -- where she talks about how emotional it was to realize she had no father to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day.
